"Retro Espresso" inspired by a vintage Flory Express moka pot by Bialetti.
 
The inspiration for this painting came from a recent visit to New Farm Deli in Brisbane and spotting a very cool moka pot with a floral design by Dolce & Gabanna (a recent D&G and Bialetti collaboration). It got me thinking about vintage moka pots and in my research I found this gorgeous one dating back to the 1960's.
 
I had to paint her (of course) and thought a retro kitchen background would be fun. I added impasto to the large tiles to create a pattern & texture and some small mosaic tiles typically found in retro kitchen design.
 
Paired with an amber glass espresso cup, a floral saucer and a Bialetti wood trivet, she is perfectly at home.
