One street away from me, lives this 1970s Mid Century gem. This house captured my attention straight away when I moved into the neighbourhood 7 years ago. Whenever I drive past I slow down for a glance. It's become habitual, I just love looking at it. And with it's exposed fireplace for a nose, and two front window for eyes, I can't help but think that the house is looking back at me.
My neighbourhood was developed in the 1970s, during the peak of modernist Australian architecture. If you go for a wander around the streets, there are still many hidden gems to uncover. Red brick homes with breeze block features, sandstone walls, aluminium joinery, breakfast bars and sunken lounge rooms.
Suburban Dream captures the warmth and comfort of a typical modernist family home, and the simplicity of everyday life.
