Bauhaus Chic is an imagined interior that brings together my fascination with art, architecture and design. Set against a Parisian backdrop, the painting draws on the geometry and visual language of the Bauhaus alongside the warmth and character of mid-century interiors.
I’m interested in the way the spaces we inhabit become compositions in themselves—how furniture, artworks, objects, colour and architecture can reveal something about the people who might live there. In Bauhaus Chic, these elements come together to create a space that sits somewhere between reality and aspiration: a little Bauhaus, a little mid-century Paris, and a space I wouldn’t mind living in.
Originally painted in 2025, I returned to the work after living with it for some time. There were elements that never felt completely resolved, and revisiting the painting allowed me to make the changes it needed. That process of returning, looking again and knowing when to stop became part of the work itself.
