“Fractured” first appeared in another painting of mine, “Mid Century Denim”. It received a lot of interest from friends and family, so I decided to paint it on its own.
The design is a geometric/cubism style, representative of many mid century artists. It has been painted over a textured background, some of which has been sanded back to give an illusion of fragility. The use of oil pastels in lines and shapes on top of the acrylic provides extra dimension.
"Our lives, ever fragile, are a collection of events and moments which make up the tapestry of our existence. No two moments are the same, but somehow combined they become beautiful. Like a cracked window that the sun shines through; beams of light in different colours peek through the shadows.
Our lives are fractured tapestries, each breathtakingly unique."
